“Cape Smoke” at the Alma Cafe.

“Cape Smoke”, is a Legendary Cape Town duo, from the late 1970s, comprising Seasoned Performers, Bill Knight and Richard Tait. Although they have both been involved in separate Projects over the intervening years, they have nevertheless remained in constant contact and collaborated on various projects of common interest; most recently at a Feature Show with a Star-Studded cast at the Barleycorn Music Club earlier this year. They will be appearing at the Alma Café as a duo at this time, but fully intend to branch out in the very near future into a Full Band format., the Word is out for a Drummer and Bass-player!

“Cape Smoke- Bill Knight & Richard Tait . Bill Knight is a Cape Town legend. He is one of those songwriters for whom the tap never seems to dry up and he continues to produce material of the highest quality regardless of what is going on around him.
He and Alma owner, Richard, have been bosom buddies since university days, bonding over a shared passion for the music of Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. They have been regular collaborators through the years and now, having both turned a venerable 60, have decided to reignite their first serious collaboration from the 80’s, known as Cape Smoke.
This show is the start of the rebirth and will take in a retrospective look at Bill’s entire back catalogue and reinvent it for the present. I, for one, am super excited to see my godfather and daddy gooi on stage together!!”
Jono Tait.
